2009 National Championship Regatta Catalina 30, Fleet 1 has been selected to host the 35th Anniversary Catalina 30 National Regatta and Rendezvous at South Beach Yacht Club on the weekend of September 18-20, 2009 in San Francisco, CA. Weather willing, the regatta will consist of five races: two on Friday the 18th two on Saturday the 19th and a nice long run around the islands on Sunday the 19th. If all five races are held there will be one throw out. Just so you know it won't be "all work and no play", the host club will be showing off its new clubhouse, featuring a killer bay view and a friendly attitude. Plans call for a barbeque Friday night, a catered dinner dance on Saturday, and on Sunday, a fun and festive awards banquet with race prizes, raffle prizes and other surprises. The skippers' meeting will be held Friday morning and will include a special guest speaker, Sailmaker Kame Richards, sharing his local knowledge of the tide, current, and winds in the San Francisco Bay. The Coast Guard Auxiliary will provide optional boat safety inspections on Thursday the 17th in the afternoon. South Beach Harbor is located in the fashionable South of Market District with great restaurants, the San Francisco Giants AT&T ballpark, public transit, and other amenities within walking distance.
